The 2nd 'Blazing Autumn People's Concert' (3)

Dr.Handa appeared on the stage in a traditional costume montsuki hakama, a men's formal kimono with family crest, and hakama which was a long and pleated culotte-like pants for men. It lent an authoritative and dignified tone to the air.

He gestured silently for the audience to stand and started singing "Kimigayo," the Japan's national anthem, backed by the orchestra. The singing  really was reminiscent of the opening of a sporting event.
